Dear readers,
It’s been a minute. Frankly, I’ve been swamped with so much going on at work and once home, I want a nap. I’m exhausted. Last year I felt burned out so exhaustion in exchange for burnout… I’ll take it.
My goal at the end of summer was to go into the school year with optimum energy to be able to have a social life after work and weekends while also consistently adding layers to my business. It was nice in theory but the application it took a huge nose dive into the abyss of fatigue. I’m still committed to the goal. And I realize now that it’s more manageable when there is more time in my day and weekend to rest, recharge and implement what I think is possible. So as I refine my goals, I have learned that it’s better to scale back to one simple and manageable goal and add to it instead of trying to maintain the same stride and not gain ground.
Writing goals down does help. Looking at them and seeing where adjustments need to take place will benefit me in the long run. I looked at my self-care daily schedule and I’m not attentive to two things on the list. Additionally, on some days it may be necessary to burn the candle at both ends when working full-time, managing life and building a business. The key is to do what is manageable for a specific block of time. Meditation for twenty minutes very early in the morning works for me. Meditating in the evening using a prayer app for five minutes to clear the mental chatter is also effective.
My one big takeaway in all of it is to remain grateful and joyful as much as I possibly can. Step by step I will get there and you will too. I believe it’s possible. Let’s step into it together.
Til soon,
Yvette
